Complete Solution for Hip Pain

When a severe hip damage occurs the hip replacement surgery is recommended. During the hip surgery, the damaged cartilage and bone are removed from the hip joint and they are replaced with new man-made parts. This surgery reduces the pain, relieves stiffness and makes the hip joint to work well. The patient is recommended to hip replacement surgery if and only if there is no improvement seen in medicines, physiotherapy, and exercise after the hip injury.

Partial Hip Replacement Procedure
Partial hip replacement is otherwise called hemiarthroplasty a surgical procedure where the femoral head (the ball) of the damaged hip joint is only replaced. The socket, the acetabulum is not replaced. This surgery is mainly done for the fractured or broken hips. This treatment is not a precise one for degenerative arthritis. The procedure takes 60- 90 minutes in the following order:
The incision is made near the front or back side of the hip, muscles and tendons. Then other tissues are removed to expose the femoral part and acetabulum. The hip is then positioned for exposure. The head and neck parts of the femoral head are removed. The femur channel is hollowed out for the femoral stem insertion. The femoral stem is pressed into the hollow centre of the femur with bone cement. The hip is then rejoined and the surrounding muscle and tissues are repaired back to the position.
Some pain will be experienced by the patient after the partial hip replacement surgery, which is treated with proper medication. The physiotherapy will help for the patient’s rehabilitation by teaching specific exercises to strengthen the leg and restore hip movement.
Dr. Santpure Shivkumar, has been doing practice for more than two decades and performed thousands of major surgeries. He is the renowned surgeon in performing Partial Hip Replacement Surgery in Maharashtra.

No More Worries About Knee Pain

Knee Pain is a general ailment experienced by all ages of people. Knee pain may take place suddenly after an injury or by the chronic medical condition. The discomfort level depends on the pain cause, the area of knee affected or the patients’ physical condition prior to the knee pain. In older people, knee pain can cause due to the aging process and weakened bone structure, wear and tear of the ligament, bone.

There are a number of reasons for knee pain. Some issues directly affect the proper function of the knees and cause pain. Other than injury, “arthritis” condition leads to joint deterioration and discomfort. Sudden sprains during the sports might start with severe knee pain.
Damaged Menisci
Between the femur and tibial bone, there are thin layers of cartilages located called Menisci. This connective tissue has the tendency to absorb the stress of lower extremities, and the layers may tear when a heavy pressure is given on the knee. It prevents and stabilizes the knee from abnormal movements. When the menisci are torn the knee’s proper function is affected.
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis generally affects all and women who are above 55 years are exposed to high risk of OA. It commonly appears in one or more joint bones in the body. Due to the loss of cartilage, the condition stimulates pain which causes the bones to rub together when the intense pain will be experienced. OA also forms from the congenital joint malformation, injuries due to sports and continuous strenuous work.
High Body Weight
People with overweight will experience severe knee pain while standing, walking since the weight places stress on the joints. The stress may produce loss of joint tissue as the femur and tibial ends rub together, produce friction.
When the medicines, therapy, and rest fail to alleviate pain, then the surgeon will perform knee Replacement Surgery.

It is otherwise called Knee Arthroplasty to relieve the pain and restore the function of the severely affected knee joints. During the surgery, the damaged bone and knee cap are removed and is replaced with an artificial joint made of high-grade plastics, polymers or metal alloys. With the help of such an advanced technology, the patient can choose his option from the varieties depends on the age, weight, activity. Such knee replacement surgeries duplicate the natural knee ability to roll and glide as it bends. There are two replacement surgeries called Total knee replacement and partial knee replacement.

Total Knee Replacement Procedure
In the total knee replacement procedure, both sides of the knee joints are replaced. The surgery takes 1-3 hours. First, the knee cap front portion is cut to expose the knee cap so as to get into that. The damaged ends of the femur and tibial bone are then carefully removed. Before fitting the prosthesis a dummy joint is placed to test the joint’s function. Finally, the prosthesis is fitted. The femur end is replaced by a curved metal piece and the tibial end is replaced by a flat metal plate and they are fixed with special bone cement. A plastic spacer is placed in between the metal pieces. The cut is either sutured or clipped. The dressing is done on the wound and sometimes the patient is advised with a splint to reduce leg movement.

So also end stage joint pain of the hip because of any reason can be effectively treated by hip replacement alone. Hip replacement has been around for over 60 years. In this time hip replacement has seen a gigantic development. Hip replacement can be total or partial. In partial hip replacement, just the ball (head of femur) is supplanted. The first measure of the patient is held. This surgery is normally accomplished for more seasoned patients who break the neck of femur (hip crack).

Total Hip Replacement

In total hip replacement, both the ball and attachment is supplanted. This surgery is ruined hip joint arthritis where both ball and attachment are harmed. Initially total hip replacement both segments (stem and container) were settled to bone with bone bond (established hip). The established stem (which holds the ball) works extremely well and has a long life. However the established container endures just 10 to 12 years. The need to enhance life of the prosthesis prompted the advancement of uncemented hips. In uncemented outline, the glass and the stem are fitted into the bone without utilizing bond. The surface of the stem and container is made unpleasant or permeable. This permits the issue that remains to be worked out into the surface.

Types of Hip Implants

Initially altogether hip replacement, the ball was made of metal and the cup was made of high thickness plastic (metal on plastic). The issue with plastic is that it wears out after some time. There has been a major change in these materials throughout the years. The first plastic has experienced a progression of changes (exceptionally cross connected) which has enhanced the solidness of the plastic. The greatest change has been the presentation of ceramic. Early earthenware was weak and had issues of breakage. With later eras of fired, the breakage issue was understood. By utilizing earthenware heads rather than metal ones, the wear of the plastic cups is decreased (ceramic on plastic). At that point came the ceramic containers. By utilizing a ceramic cup and fired ball (artistic on earthenware), there is next to no wear of the container and the life of the prosthesis is enhanced radically. Ceramic on ceramic THR is perfect for the more youthful patient as it is exceptionally solid and keeps going quite a while. On the other hand it is an in fact delicate surgery and must be done flawlessly. It is likewise exceptionally costly.
